Who should avoid getting one? | TVS Ronin FAQ #3

If you think a 225cc motorcycle should be the one motorcycle that satisfies the next 3-4 years of your motorcycle adventure dreams, you might want to avoid getting yourself a Ronin.
One. It’s designed to run run in the city… at the expense of ability out on the highway. It starts to lose its effortless refinement by 65kmph — which we think is ridiculous — but there’s a distinct change in manner at higher speeds that is oddly unsatisfying and frankly, unnecessary. Two. This is also true for the suspension. It’s very plush and comfortable at low speeds but that ability runs out too. Bigger bumps and higher speeds both put the suspension in a place where keeping things smooth becomes challenging for the Ronin. That smoothness at city speeds? It doesn’t last. Three. Don’t get us wrong. If you have a Ronin, there’s nothing that stops you from touring with it and any of these things. It’s just that it’s A LOT BETTER in the city than on the highway and a 225 could easily (and SHOULD!) have a better balance between the daily grind and the weekend ambition.

  1. I have a pulsar 125 but I want a bike that better than pulsar 125 but good enough so that parents can sit on it especially with saree so I was planning to buy pulsar 220f for city rides, and have some fun but my main goal is to buy a Aprilia rs457 ( I have experience of riding 400-600cc bikes I do long rides occasionally) so what should I do should I sell my 125 and buy 220f 1st or Should I just buy Aprilia and invest on that bike. And leave the 125 for family??

  2. Sometimes I feel like these guys favour RE too much .. when in exchange for retro looks and better resale value a buyer misses on engines, fit and finish , weight management , relaiablity.. i dont know maybe I'm wrong but I have noticed this biased outlook .

Eg they will give 3 reasons to not to buy a TVS
But give 3 reason to buy hunter 350

  3. I have Ronin from 1.5 years and its odometer is at 10.5k
Did three long trips so far. 1. 900km, 2. 1200km and in last month 3. 1600km
City and highway both experience are good.. no any complaint if keep crusing between 70 to 95/100 kmph. Will get good mileage and ride experience.

  4. Totally disagree.
Guess he is getting paid to say all this.
Ronin is awesome n performed brilliantly even at the highest peak…..umlingla.
You need to do ur homework before making such strong statements.
Bikes has amazing pickup n touches 110 without any viberations or being bumpy. Did almost 5500 Kms of Ronin. Its a Definate Yes.
Block this Salt n pepper Lier😂

  5. I agree with you sir, but Indian highways are still a crowded highway….
Going beyond 90km/hr bike itself puts you at huge risk as you have to maneuver lane changing trucks, rickshaws, and rash car drivers so
In india even on highways bikes are never recommended to gi beyond 80-90kmph
On expressways we don't recommend bikes (not even superbikes even if allowed by rule)
…. Let alone the city traffic.
So…as per Indian traffic it seems TVS did right thing.

  6. After 2.5 Years riding ( 65000km +) , my suggestion will be delete this video, all your opinions like fake.
Best bike under 2 Lakhs. Please don't comparison with hunter 350, Tvs putts lots of effort on Ronin.

  7. Spot on about the suspension. I did a test ride recently, it was a new bike (sub 300km I think) so I shouldnt judge too harshly, but what bothered me the most was that the exhaust & engine sounded like 2 seperate entities. The exhaust sounds lovely, but as the revs rise it is drowned out by the engine clatter which is irritating. Has anyone else felt the same ?

  8. done 22K kms on this, just finished the south triangle ride of 2500+ kms in 6 days, comfortable cruising between 80-90. can pull to 110 for quick overtakes. no regrets so far.

  9. You are completely wrong with all the points.

Very good suspension in city as well as for long touring.

Speed is very good and no vibration on the higher speed as well.

I completed Mumbai to Pune and Pune to Mumbai same day with this bike with maintaining speed between 80-100 kmph with no problem at all and sometimes taking it to 115 as well.

Just go for it in 220 cc segment

  10. Shall I go for ronin 225 with abs for long term? Or I get the hunter 350 without abs??
For daily commute in city, occasional tours, like 2-3 times in a year.
    Long term means 6-7 years
