Hubris and profit seeking has ruined the automotive industry. They believe that something that can be done, should be done. So stupid, complex machinery replaces tried and true design. Instead of being built last, automobiles are built to be serviced. The consumer is an asset to be exploited. Not only do auto manufacturers want to sell more automobiles, they want to sell more parts. And more often. Planned obsolescence is standard practice. Let's not forget increase in labor cost.
The American people are exploited to the max. There was a time when manufacturers took pride in creating a reliable product that was built to last. Today they take pride in themselves and their ability to screw over millions of people. They see nothing but dollar signs.
Drive less. Walk more. Ride a bike. This way you can buy an older, used vehicle. Save money buying, on gas and on repair. Insurance too. Get more exercise
They need to make more simple ass cars. All this technology is an unnecessary expense that ends up in unnecessary repairs. Deop the fucking govt. mandates.
Cars are no longer cars, they are mobile computers, loads of useless junk. 2006 last year for car
I predict Countries with a presence in the U.S. will buy good manufacturers that don't have manufacturing in the U.S. or a foreign country buys an American manufacture or builds plant in U.S. Honda and Nissan is an example.
They shouldnât call Tesla a recall since they are corrected over the air, the vehicle is not taken out of service with trips to the dealerâŠ.
Yet again you guys miss it. You automatically keep saying that it will always be the consumer that ultimately pays the tariffs.
If companies really want to stay afloat, they can start cutting bonuses. How many hundreds of millions of dollars are given away to CEOâs and others on top of their salary and stock options? If the price of a vehicle goes up $5 (as you say), for every 100,000 vehicles is only $500,000.
We all know they donât sell that many nowadays but just using that number for a reference.
That $500,000 is pocket change considering how much they dole out in bonuses and stocks. Itâs pathetic actually.
Hoping for no tariffs so we can have cheaper cars all while normal Americans need JOBS is laughable to me. Youâre right, the price of goods might go up, but it brings back jobs to the U.S., and puts AMERICANS TO FUCKING WORK. Thatâs the point of the tariffs!
Where did you new video go?
Worry more about over stressed engines, plastic engine parts and glued together assembly than whether the heated seat chip is mossing.
We saw the similar results in the rv industry . Its a bit risky to buy used vehicles built at this time
The American car market is a protectionist racket to start. I'll pay a tariff on the Toyota hylux champ over a 60k p.o.s. dodge or ford.
Right now we have excessive tariffs on pickups made in Japan, so that we don't get to buy any. Supposedly this is to save American jobs.
This does screw the American consumer.
But there aren't any tariffs on Mexican trucks, so Toyota make them in Mexico. Still no American jobs, American consumer gets screwed.
Just allow Japanese trucks back into the country.
Supply and demand. Plenty of supply no demand for a $100K pickup w over 20 recalls during ownership.
Weâre getting our raw materials from China. Itâs junk. The design could be awesome, but using Chinese bearings is a sure fire failure.
legalrightsguru AI fixes this. Consumer Reports: New Cars Junk
America has kept out Chinese cars. The car companies allowed in America therefore are not discounting anything.
I will believe the tariffs when we see them. Trump likes to talk a lot
Stupid is as stupid does!! if your markets only 16%, guess what if that shrinks 0% then what do you do?
That country can also help pay for the tariffs also. And yâall are over looking that Trump wants to switch from income tax to tariffs đ
Brendan, Ray, I watch all of your videos and they are very helpful to understand market trends. One topic I rarely see anyone covering is the tightening emissions standards that the EPA requires every year. It would be useful if you made a video explaining how these emissions standards affect pricing.
Alright you are not being honest. So any car before the early 90's can last 20 to 30 years now all new cars PVC/mylar parts and electrical s—. All disposable trash made to last until warranty runs out, that's it.
Lucid is done we want cheap priced toyotas and hondas take off the dumb lane departure back up cameras start stop etc get in the car and drive like the old days
So many product are made in china Americans will pay lots more
These guys do not understand tariffs are foe negotiating.
Designed to take your money not designed to take you somewhere. None of these new cars will last 10-15 years.
Let's not forget that some of the automotive OEMs actually tried to make such chip-based functions a subscription item around that time as well… which will have an even greater impact on their reputation when people don't receive what they pay for.
TRUMP, WE WOULD BUY AMERICAN CARS IF THEY ARE AS GREAT OR BETTER THAN TOYOTA OR HONDA, UNFORTUNATELY THEY ARE NOT. I REALLY WANT TO BUY AMERICAN CARS JUST CANT JUSTIFY IT AT THIS TIME.
I don't want or need fancy screens and electronics.
And certainly don't want subscription based power upgrades.
We all need to go waste the dealers time this December. They owe us.
I just bought a used Mazda 6 from an old lady. It is a fantastic car but there are way too many bells and whistles that I donât need and will never use. In my opinion, Mazda and Subaru have the best cars for the money right now. The Nissan Frontier is the best truck value right now but I expect that Nissan will either stop making the Frontier or they will drop a turbocharged V-4 in it and raise the price by $10K.
The tariff issue is aimed at the Chinese, who were promising to flood our market with cheap vehicles that would destroy our manufacturers. All automakers building in the states will ultimately prosper, providing they stop pushing junk.
Got a 21 Explorer ST and it is indeed junk with too much tech.
Why are you talking Price ? If the engine, transmission & tech don't work why even talk price ? Cheap junk is still junk ! In ten years you will selling cars with 90,000 miles working on their third engine and second transmission. Car seats will be the least of of the issues.
Ray is a democrat….UGH
Why are all the car content creators using the words SHOCK – SHOCKED – SHOCKING in their titles??
You desperate content creators need to change up cause you're wearing SHOCKED out.
How about use words like BOOBS, as in "BOOBS SHOCK the car market!!" I'd click on that!
Or BOOBS get SLAMMED in the 2025 car door!!" Woohoo!
Gotta up your game dude, you slackin big time
Maybe the American auto builders don't make as much profit. They already need to cut their profit margins to sell vehicles. Build in America so Americans can afford to buy their product.
EV range only needs to be 275-350 miles per charge. Get out of the car and urinate for Gods sake.
SHOCKED SHOCKED SHOCKED
OMG SHOCKED AGAIN!!!!!
They are trying to maximize ICE profits to cover EV Losses.
Cut corners where you can, âŹïž put on a bunch of options, âŹïž then mark it up so more. âŹïž
Then sell your EVâs at a loss to compete with your ICE vehicles.
It works great on paper, but isnât working in reality.
The tariffs donât affect car prices, the whole reason for cheap labor was to maximize profits to upper management, not to reduce costs to the consumer.
To preserve these big CEO bonuses, they will move manufacturing back into the US.
You guys act like we supposed to feel sorry for a car company not making profits, if they canât sell at a price âweâ like and they canât make a profit, so sorry time to leave the car market
If Jeep was smart they would sell a basic wrangler and sell upgrades as they go (at a reasonable price not dealer price)
My 21 tundra sr5 need a coolant leak fixed at 22k miles smh (covid built)
I'm surprised that EV sales in the US are increasing this year. A friend of mine who works for Southern China State Grid told me that 150000 new charging stations have been installed in Guangdong province, mostly in rural areas (motorway stops). He said those were the biggest obstacles for EV buyers. âThe US has the same problem, and I would not buy an EV without the new NASC connector that is starting to appear in new cars next year because the Tesla Supercharger network will make the CCS chargers obsolite.ââč
Globalization of manufacturing and trade was a major component in keeping inflation low for a generation – basically from 1981 until 2022.
